Stornoway the main town and capital of the Outer Hebrides is approximatley 45 minutes drive.

Callanish Stones; - 20 minutes  this starts a circular tour that can take an afternoon, or just a couple of hours, depending on what you want to do.  On the circular you can see:

Gearrannan Blackhouse Village
Dalmor and Dalbeg Beaches, although the famous Uig beaches are only 20 minutes from the cottages.Lewis Chessmen

-  Barvas the road joins the main Stornoway - Ness road so you have the choice of carrying on to Ness, or completing the circular and come back via Stornoway.

 

Heading into Uig:

Gisla Woodcraft - is only five minutes away and next door to the Big Big Skies Gallery
Lochcroistean Cafe is only a few minutes further away and well worth a visit - it's like a mini museum in itself!
Riof, Cliff and Valtos Beaches are within 20 mins.
